About Me
Anita has been a Registered Nurse since 2000. A graduate of the University College of the Fraser Valley with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, Anita exhibits a true commitment to caring for others. Anita began specializing in breastfeeding and lactation in 2002 and has been very passionate about providing excellent care ever since. She completed her prerequisites and examination to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2004.
Then she emarked on the journey of motherhood herself. She now has 3 beautiful children, all exclusively breastfed for a minimum of 18 months. In 2011, she decided to make her own family a priority and resigned her position in public health care in order to open a private practice with more flexible hours.
Anyone who has met her would agree that she is passionate about breastfeeding. "My desire is to support mothers in their journey of learning to breastfeed their baby(ies). I want to equip mothers with the information and skills needed to reach their breastfeeding goals."
Anita is a registered member of the College of Nurses of British Columbia, and is certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Anita initially spent 11 years working for her local Health Authority, Fraser Health, as a Public Health Nurse. This is where she received much of her training and experience working with postpartum mothers and babies in their home environments as well as teaching educational sessions such as prenatal classes. She has also done a lot of work in the area of child growth and development and communicable disease control. Since 2006, Anita has also been involved in continuing education for health care providers in the form of inservice presentations as well as teaching Douglas College's "Breastfeeding Course for Health Care Providers."
In her spare time, Anita enjoys spending time with her family, baking, sewing and scrapbooking.
